The Assay Laboratory performs the hormone assays on your blood samples during a treatment cycle and some of your initial screening blood tests.
Blood samples are collected between 7.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. Monday - Saturday. Results are discussed with patients by one of our nurses the same day.
As time is of the essence in this type of testing, please understand that it is necessary to adhere to this timetable.
The assays performed by our laboratory during a treatment cycle are: - E2 (oestradiol) - a hormone produced by the growing follicle
- P4 (progesterone) - a hormone produced by an ovulated follicle
- FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) - a hormone produced by the brain to make follicles grow
- LH (luteininsing hormone) - a hormone produced by the brain to make mature follicles ovulate
- HCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin) - a hormone made by the implanting embryo and is measured to determine pregnancy
